Wadsworth Golf Construction Company will celebrate our 70th year serving the golf industry in 2027. Countless individuals have fond memories of working with our founder, Brent Wadsworth, on job sites or simply talking about life, so it’s a good time to bring back the words he wrote that still describe what we do each day.
“The physical birth of a golf course begins with the movement of heavy construction equipment, as it begins to transform the landscape into a golf course. It is major surgery, and the size of the instruments is matched by the size of the task. Trees must be moved and removed. Creeks diverted. Hills relocated. Lakes and ponds must be carved from rock, or sand, or clay. Wadsworth Golf Construction Company uses carefully selected and trained operators making use of the most modern equipment in the industry. They respect the land, and they are loyal to the engineering skills guiding their efforts. Above all, they care deeply about the quality of their work while facing many different construction challenges. From the pine and palmetto of Florida, to the granite-hemmed greens of Colorado, to the lava and volcanic ash of the Hawaiian Islands, the end result remains the same: a golf course completed on time that is healthy, accurate to specifications, and a credit to the planners and nature herself.”
Brent Wadsworth, a trained architect who worked in golf course design with famed architects Robert Bruce Harris and Larry Packard, started Wadsworth Golf Construction Company in 1958 because he saw a need to have a dedicated golf course construction company committed to delivering products that exceeded industry standards.
With more than 1,200 golf courses constructed, that commitment stands strong, and “Devotion to duty, proudness and extraordinary satisfaction” remains our company’s Mission Statement.
Those words guide the decisions we make in the field today. Wadsworth’s approach has never changed: honor the architect’s vision, respect the land and deliver uncompromising quality. This is true whether restoring a historic championship venue, renovating a favorite municipal course or building an entirely new golf experience. Wadsworth’s foundation was set seven decades ago and is still visible through long-standing relationships with owners, superintendents and some of the most respected architects.
In 2018, Brent Wadsworth died at age 88. He lives on today in the craftsmanship and integrity that are part of every project touched by the Wadsworth Golf Construction Company team.
